SCHLAVER CHRISTMAS CHIMES (December 1991)
The past year has passed very quickly for me and find I am looking forward to 1992.
I regret reporting that my nephew Tom Coplan lost his six year battle with leukemia. He passed away April 27, 1991. His family left for Richmond, Virginia shortly thereafter, and I really was lonesome after their having been with me for eight months. We keep in close touch with letters and phone calls.
Marcia, Michelle and I made a trip to Sparta, Wisconsin to visit Schlaver relatives this summer.
Paul and Julian came later so I made another trip to Sparta. Ben is now a freshman at Rochester, New York. Julian is a freshman in high school in Cambridge, Mass.
This fall Matthew is a senior at Notre Dame. He went to London this summer as an engineering student. Clay is a senior in high school and Shane is a sophomore. Michele is in the fifth grade.
Mark and Marcia are kept busy between their two homes, one in Dowagiac and one in Michawaka. Marcia continues with her costume business and now has become editor of the Penny Saver weekly paper. C. O. would be proud of her.
David continues to visit me regularly and calls at least once or more each week. He never regained the sight in his right eye. I just can't keep up reading all the books he brings me, but I do try!
Ruth came to visit for a week in October and Helen, Sue and Mary came twice while she was here. We shopped till we dropped! My brother and his wife drove from Champaign one day, so we all had a good visit.
Thanksgiving was spent in Santa Cruz, California with Helen, my sister, visiting her daughter and son-in-law. It was an enjoyable trip.
MY WISH FOR ALL IS A VERY BLESSED CHRISTMAS AND HEALTHY NEW YEAR
Betty
