1954

A Merry Christmas to you and we hope you thrive in the year of ‘55.

The C.O. Schlavers of 302 No. Elmhurst Ave. in Mount Prospect Illinois enjoyed a busy year in 1954 and in these fleeting last days of December send you this brief report via our duplicator: No vacation trip outside of a few days in Wisconsin and celebration of Kewanee’s Centennial but we’re looking forward to “Pike’s Peak or Bust” and perhaps to feeding the bears in Yellowstone Park next summer… Marcia, now 6, has lost her 2 front teeth… David, now 12, is “piano-happy” and he still likes Ike… Paul, 9, has a pet duck, Dilly, and an autographed ball from Hank Sauer who he hopes stays with the Cubs… Daddy is on the village board as trustee and that keeps him occupied along with roaring like a Lion and making like a Toastmaster… Outside of her taking care of a seven-room house and figuring out the family finances Mother hasn’t a thing to do. Oh yes, we edited a mimeographed newspaper, The Echo, this past year and that’s a reason why we may have neglected our friends… But we’re happy to be healthy, although we’re not wealthy. The Lord has been good to us and in true spirit of Christmas we hope your day will be merry, too.

Clarence, Betty, David, Paul, Marcia
