1961
Vol. 1, No. 7 of "The Schlaver Christmas Chimes," dated December 25, 1961.
Warm as the glowing logs in our fireplace, bright as the full moon's glow on a clear winter night, and glistening like the red berries on a holly wreath go our greetings to friends and kin this holiday season as another year of health and happiness ebbs way.
The "Good Neighbor" Party was victorious and C. O. was elected village president. Along with this responsibility is that of a new position since July 1, that of fulltime executive editor of THE QUILL, Sigma Delta Chi's magazine for the professional journalism society.
Betty is interceptor of telephone messages, keeper of the family accounts, and handyman while Dad plays the role of Don Quixote fighting village windmills.
David is now a sophomore at Notre Dame University striving to make the Dean's scholarship list. He is now the proprietor and leader of The Lettermen, a 15-piece band providing "jazz with the varsity touch" for dances.
Paul spent the summer working in the mailing and circulation department of SDX. He sets forth in the little Austin for his junior year classes at Notre Dame High School.
Our Marcia is now a teen-ager and a proud moment came when her height matched that of her mother's. Next fall she hopes to enter Regina High School.
