SCHLAVER CHRISTMAS CHIMES 1995
After Thanksgiving is over I realize that Christmas will soon be here, so decided to get busy and write my Christmas letter.
My retirement plan to work on photo albums and clean out years of accumulation has not been done, so hope to do that in 1996. My traveling in ’95 has been to South Bend and Richmond, Virginia. I continue reading, after all still have many books here that I haven’t read. David has sent many books to Bangladesh this year, but still have many left. I continue to knit dish clothes that make nice gifts for friends and relatives. I learned to knit hats this year, but finally gave that up, how many hats can one wear.
The 29th of September David left for Bangladesh with eight large suit cases, happy to be going back to work with Holy Cross there. He is now teaching English to the seminarians and learning Bangla so he will be able to read and write Bangla. I have had two phone calls and two long letters from him. I have been trying to write a letter to him each week. I really miss his calls and letters and packets of reading material he usually sent me.
Paul came for a weekend this fall, so I put him to work getting the place ready for winter. He is alone now with Ben graduated from college and with a new job in Los Angeles and Julian a Freshman at New York University. They all came a few days during the summer.
Marcia is in South Bend keeping busy with her newspaper job. Michelle is a Freshman at St. Joseph High School there. Shane is a Sophomore on campus at Notre Dame. Matthew is in Bloomington attending Indiana University to continue his studies. Clay, my ‘star boarder’, left in September while I was in Richmond, has an apartment in Arlington Heights and continues working in the area.
Helen and her daughters from Davenport came to visit and SHOP and my brother and his wife also came from Champaign, so we all get together on different occasions.
Looking back, ’95 has been a good year, I’ve kept busy and have had good health for which I am very thankful.
A BLESSED CHRISTMAS AND A HEALTHY NEW YEAR
